A university campus is one unique environment where you have a highly diverse pool of young, energetic, and ambitious people concentrated in one area, people with a wide array of skill-sets. This presents the potential of turning the campus into a thriving university marketplace of some sort where students trade their various skill-sets for extra income because well…you know…adulting. It’s a fair exchange: I need a photographer for my birthday event, but my student wallet won’t be too happy if I hire one of those outrageously expensive shooters, and you are good with your camera and assume you also desperately need the cash. So, let us meet halfway. Imagine if it were this easy to find fellow students who are willing to provide some of the services you require at better prices than those you would have to put up with from outside.

Well, unfortunately when I moved to Cape Town as a photographer, I quickly found myself having those same imaginations because it was hard to find and connect with potential customers in this new environment called UCT.  Back in my home country Zimbabwe, I had already successfully established a good market but now I had to start all over in a new environment. Facebook and Instagram ads proved not to be as effective in helping with the situation. This opened my eyes to the need for a central place on which students can provide their services to other students for money.

After some brainstorming with some colleagues (who later became co-founders), TaskRadar was born to solve the problem. On TaskRadar, students with services to offer (photography, hair-styling, editing, etc.) can list them for a price for other students who are looking for them to locate them. We think this would be a game-changer in allowing students to support each other in their hustles and ventures.
